Northolt grange COHESIVE LANDSCAPE DESIGN FOR 92 HOMES IN WEST LONDON Northolt Grange, London Northolt Grange, London Northolt Grange, London

Designed by HOK Architects, Northolt Grange is a 92‑home development that has established a new model for high‑quality, sustainable and affordable housing in Ealing, West London. The completed scheme delivers a mix of 100% affordable apartments and family houses on a one‑acre site.

Urban Edge was responsible solely for the design and delivery of the landscape scheme, creating a cohesive external environment that supports the wider architectural vision. Reflecting the principles of the Healthy Streets for London initiative, the landscape design sets the homes back from the street to form greener, more attractive routes that encourage walking and cycling. These landscaped streets now connect directly to a new public park and wrap around the site’s perimeter, forming a welcoming entrance to the adjoining primary school and providing students and staff with an enhanced outdoor setting.

Adjacent to the school, the landscape strategy supports a small residential street lined with four‑bedroom family homes arranged along a dedicated ‘play’ street for older children. Planting, surfacing and spatial arrangement have been carefully considered to maximise privacy, outlook and usability. A 30‑space car park is concealed beneath a completed first‑floor podium deck, which Urban Edge designed as a car‑free communal space incorporating children’s play equipment, raised planters and seating areas at the heart of the development.
