Completed in early 2025, the opening of Phase 1 of Ampfield Meadows Retirement Community marked the second scheme Urban Edge has designed and delivered for Inspired Villages.

Set on the north‑western edge of Chandler’s Ford, within the historic county of Hampshire, this new retirement community occupies a 10.3‑acre site enclosed by natural woodland. The site’s topography informed a carefully considered landscape design, using the natural fall of the land to provide accessibility across the whole development for residents and visitors alike.

Phase 1 of the scheme comprised 57 apartments, housed within the village centre and a village apartment block. The village centre is a split‑level main building incorporating apartments, a wellness centre, restaurant, shop and other facilities accessible to residents and the local community.

In 2023, Urban Edge submitted a full detailed planning application for Phases 2 and 3 of the development, delivering a further 91 units consisting of apartments and cottages. Inspired Villages later sought permission to extend the scheme, and Urban Edge submitted an additional planning application for 48 further units on an extended parcel of land adjacent to the original development site.
