Urban Edge was engaged by NewRiver to develop a brownfield site next to the existing Morrisons foodstore in Canvey Island, Essex. The brief was to create a new out‑of‑town shopping destination with units tailored to the modern retailer.

The site originally formed part of land previously developed as an oil refinery in the 1970s, which was then decommissioned in 1975 and left unused thereafter. The scheme included the design and construction of a new retail terrace consisting of five new retail units. A new drive‑through pod unit provided an additional draw to the scheme, alongside new car parking and areas of landscaping. The scheme was completed in late 2018.
