BURGER KING, ABERDEEN CONTRASTING CLADDING DEFINES NEW DRIVE-THROUGH Burger King, Centrepoint Retail Park, Aberdeen

We completed a Burger King drive‑through unit at Centrepoint Retail Park in Aberdeen. Appointed by Railpen as architect for this £800,000 project, we managed the reconfiguration of the surrounding car park and took the scheme from feasibility through to completion.

Retail park owners are increasingly diversifying their offer, with drive‑through F&B units becoming a popular addition. Introducing another well‑known brand enhances Centrepoint Retail Park’s appeal as a retail and leisure destination while creating further local employment opportunities.

The design of the new Burger King drive‑through reflects the brand’s identity and operational requirements. The exterior features cream composite panels on a red‑brick plinth, with timber‑effect panels accentuating the drive‑through windows and providing a backdrop for signage. Floor‑to‑ceiling aluminium glazing to the public‑facing restaurant brings in natural light and offers clear views both in and out.

The site layout was carefully planned to ensure any queuing is contained within the retail park. The proposals were also designed to align with Aberdeen City Council’s Berryden Corridor Improvement Scheme. To support biodiversity, the design incorporates planted borders with eight species of flowering shrubs, encouraging local wildlife, particularly bees and birds.

This project forms part of a wider series of similar schemes we have delivered for well‑known F&B operators. Our strong relationships with major brands give us a deep understanding of their specifications and requirements, enabling us to deliver their schemes efficiently, even on challenging sites.
