Costa, Bristol DRIVE-THROUGH UNIT FEATURING WRAPAROUND GLAZING Costa, South Bristol Retail Park, Bristol

We completed a 1,800 sq.ft Costa drive‑through pod unit at South Bristol Retail Park for our client, Bae System 2000 Pension Plan Trustees Limited.

During our initial feasibility study, we carefully assessed the pod unit’s height and positioning to avoid obstructing visibility for other tenants within the retail park. After testing several options, we orientated the pod towards the existing retail terrace and drive‑through unit.

The entrance and the majority of the glazing are located on the northern and western façades, providing extensive views across the wider site while maintaining a strong presence from the estate’s entrance road. The drive‑through lane runs around the east and south of the unit before merging back into the car park. This layout provides sufficient queuing capacity, minimising any impact on car‑park circulation.

The pod unit features a modern design with a pitched roof and simple linear detailing. The material palette reflects a clean aesthetic, incorporating light‑grey cladding panels, timber cladding and smooth blue facing brickwork. Red cedar cladding on the western elevation ties the structure into the surrounding vegetation and enhances the visual prominence of the signage zones. The main entrance is emphasised by a glazed doorway and brightly coloured red cladding panels that complement Costa’s branding.
