Urban Edge was commissioned by Freshwater Group to develop a scheme for 80,000 sq.ft of new retail accommodation on the site of the derelict Zephyr Cams factory in Lowestoft. The two‑hectare brownfield site had stood largely unused for 15 years and had become a prominent eyesore within the local townscape.
We proposed the demolition of the existing industrial building and the construction of four retail units, one café unit and one restaurant/retail unit, based on confirmed interest from The Range, Aldi and Costa. Our proposals also included parking provision for 300 cars and dedicated areas for cycle users. The scheme progressed from planning approval to practical completion over a period of two and a half years.
