We were commissioned to develop this underutilised site into a unique, contemporary residential building. The awkwardly shaped site, is surrounded on two sides by watercourses and infrastructure on the third. Our challenge was to unlock the site’s potential whilst remaining sympathetic to the riverside / urban location.

After thoughtful development we designed a distinctive triangular building, driven by the footprint of the site. The rounded corners help soften the building and reduce it’s visual impact. These organic lines are further accentuated by the use of curved balconies along the elevations which overlook the water’s edge.

The buildings mass is mitigated by splitting the elevations horizontally into a solid masonry bottom, a natural timber middle section and a contemporary brass clad penthouse floor.

The landscape will retain as much of the existing riverside vegetation as possible. The passageway between the building and the car park forms a pleasant pedestrian avenue complete with an overhead footbridge.
